Roe v Wade 47th Anniversary

January 22, 2020

Roe v. Wade is a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. (definition taken from Wikipedia)  Reproductive justice has been the cornerstone of NOW’s activism for over 50 years. Today, extremist politicians continue to use underhanded tactics to limit access to affordable reproductive healthcare for millions of women. These restrictions disproportionately affect low income women, rural women, women of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. NOW activists are committed to pushing back against threats to reproductive justice like the Affordable Care Act (ACA) repeal attempts, TRAP laws, abortion bans, and birth control rollbacks. NOW affirms that reproductive justice is an issue of life and death for women, not just a matter of choice.
